Spring is finally here. Wow, we’ve had some spectacular days in Marin. And it’s a great time for The Commons Foundation (TCF) to collaborate with Larkspur City staff and councilmembers on a new 21st Century Library!

Just imagine, someday soon, having a new library on The Commons. What joy it will bring to everyone who gathers at this new, beautiful community space. Now imagine bringing a picnic basket on a warm spring evening and laying out a blanket for your family in an oasis of green, while surrounded by friends and neighbors. It’s going to happen and we are going to make it great — how exciting!

What a crazy year for weather. January was exceptionally rainy, and February was especially cold. Late in the month, there was snow on Mount Tam that lasted for a couple of days. Let’s hope the end of March turns out to be a bit warmer and that we can enjoy spending more time outdoors.

I trust you are enjoying the warmer weather and lovely green hills from the recent rains. So cool to also see the Cherry Blossoms this early in February starting to bloom. I love Larkspur!

Dear Friend, I do hope your new year is off to a good start. It has been a challenging time with all the rain and flooding. Hopefully you have a good book to read! As many of you know, I became President of The Commons Foundation on January 1, a role I look forward to in this new phase of the library project. We have some exciting work ahead and I look forward to communicating with you about this soon.

Piper Park in Larkspur is glowing for the holidays this year. For the first time, trees throughout the park will shine with colorful lights for the yuletide season. The display will be on from 5 to 8 p.m. every day through Jan. 6. “It’s really pretty,” said Margarita Glazunov, who walks her dog daily through the park. “I’ve lived here for about 55 years and the city didn’t ever do this before. I think it’s wonderful.”
