Last night the Larkspur community took a big step forward and we want to thank the City Council and the Library’s supporters for helping make this happen. Thank you!
On November 4, 2020 the Larkspur City Council voted 5 to 0 to enter into a Letter of Intent between the City of Larkspur and The Commons Foundation (TCF) to build a $5 Million Library building at Rose Lane.
TCF has 24 months to raise $5 Million in cash. The City will then go out for bids to design and build a $5 Million, 5,000 Square Foot building which can serve the dual purpose of being the new library and a community meeting space. It is intended to be the first phase in a multi-phased approach to building a library and community center at Rose Lane.
38 emails were received by the City Clerk regarding the resolution: 35 in favor including 5 with traffic, parking and street maintenance recommendations for the City, and 3 were opposed.
To see the Council discussion and votes go to 1:14:56 / 1:45:50 of the Council Meeting You Tube video.
To see the Staff Report, Resolution and LOI.
TCF has raised $900,000 in cash and pledges so far. We anticipate retaining fundraising counsel and aggressively starting our major donor campaign in the coming weeks.
TCF has also announced that Joe Jennings will remain as president of TCF until we fulfill our mission to raise $5 million.
