Dear Friends,
I hope you’re enjoying a great summer with lots of good reading. The best book my book club read this summer was The Covenant of Water by Dr. Abraham Verghese. It’s uncommon for all 15 of us to love and enjoy the same book, but we all loved this one!
New Library Project Update
The design development plans of Alten Construction with Noll & Tam Architects (ACI team) are nearly completed and will be presented to the Planning Commission and Larkspur City Council in September. Before the presentation, the City of Larkspur will put the draft designs on their website in early September for public viewing and comment. After the review, the ACI team will finalize design details and prepare the construction drawings required to secure a building permit.
Larkspur Library in the News
The Marin IJ printed an article about the new library on July 14. Here are some excerpts:
Public Works Director Julian Skinner said the city’s development team — Alten Construction of Richmond and the Berkeley architecture firm Noll & Tam — plan to complete the design review application to present to the Planning Commission in the fall.
“Design review will be followed by completion of construction plans for building permit and then construction,” Skinner said.
Construction is set to begin in fall or winter, depending on the weather.

With Appreciation — Kathy Green to Depart TCF Board
We want to thank Kathy Green for her six years of commitment to The Commons Foundation.
Kathy and her family have announced expanded travel plans. As a result, she will be departing the Board in August. We will miss her greatly. Kathy’s involvement as a TCF Founder was crucial to our success story.
Kathy has been a tireless volunteer who was always willing to step up and do the work needed to make TCF successful. She flawlessly executed TCF finances, acted as Board Secretary, and performed countless tracking and administrative tasks. She made it look easy (we know it wasn’t…) and was a major asset to our many conversations at the TCF board meetings.
We are excited for Kathy’s future endeavors and wish her much-continued success and happiness in her next chapter. We look forward to seeing her at the new library celebrations.
Support the Library — Landscape Campaign
The Commons Foundation welcomes your donations so that we can appropriately landscape and beautify the new library’s outdoor spaces. Funds raised will support outdoor furnishings, reading areas, community spaces, as well as additional plants, trees, and garden areas. We are in a very exciting phase and hope you will join us with your support!
Please contact admin@thecommonsatlarkspur.org if you have questions. Donations are tax-deductible, and you will receive a gift acknowledgement by mail for tax purposes.
We are so grateful for everyone who has supported this campaign so far. We are truly in the home stretch!
Sincerely,
Ann Morrison
