New Library Project Update

Our library project for Larkspur continues to evolve and is on track to break ground later this year. We were thrilled to share with you in February that the City of Larkspur approved an additional $4.6M for the project in order to include a much-needed 2000 sq ft community room that can also be used to receive basic services during emergency situations. The new total budget for the building is over $15M.

TCF continues fundraising for specific furnishings, landscape, and outdoor spaces which will make the new library complex a welcoming hallmark of our town.

Quick Recap of the Design/Build Process

The Design Development plans of Alten Construction with Noll & Tam Architects (ACI team) will be made available for public review and comment as part of Design Review approval by the City Planning Commission.

We still anticipate the design will be presented to the Planning Commission in June/July 2024. After the Planning Commission review, the team will finalize design details and prepare construction drawings required to secure a building permit. This process is anticipated to take about four to five months, leading to a construction start in late 2024 or early 2025. Construction is anticipated to take up to 12 months.

On-site construction is likely to begin on The Commons parcel in late May/June for infrastructure covered by the $1M Levine grant.
