TFC Newsletter December 2024

Dear Friends,

We are immensely grateful to all the generous TCF donors and our community who have made this new library possible.

As the days grow shorter and colder, I can imagine (sometime in 2026) sitting in the new, cozy library lost in a book on a cloudy winter day. The following week, maybe I’ll go with friends to one of the community rooms for an event (TED Talk, children’s story time, bridge lesson). That weekend, maybe I’m attending a book club, creating holiday cards, or just gathering with others for the holiday season. So many exciting and warm imaginings of our our future Larkspur Library and Community Center!

As we near the end of 2024, I want to give you a quick update on the new library project from Julian Skinner, The Public Works Director/City Engineer.

The project team of Alten Construction and Noll & Tam Architects have submitted completed plans for the building permit. This process typically involves a couple of rounds of plan submittals, comments, corrections and ultimately issuance of a building permit. The team is also still waiting for PG&E to provide temporary power, needed for construction, at the site.

The next visible activity will likely be the installation of construction fencing around the property, which is scheduled for later in December. This will be followed by mobilizing the construction trailer to the site in early January.

The city anticipates construction on site to start in late January/February depending on weather, building permit issuance, and PG&E providing temporary power.

The TCF website has been rejuvenated, and you can now see the approved design plans and conceptual interior views of the new library on the site: https://thecommonsatlarkspur.org

The Commons Foundation sends you all our very best wishes for the Holiday Season and the New Year. May it be a healthy and joy-filled season.

PS: There is still time to make a tax-deductible contribution to the landscaping campaign! This will provide beautiful outdoor spaces with trees and garden areas to sit, read, and meet with friends — or to simply enjoy the view of Mt Tam. There are also a few donor recognition opportunities left in the new library as well. Interested? Please contact us at admin@thecommonsatlarkspur.org.
