TCF Newsletter September 2023

Dear Friend,

Fall is here! What a great summer it has been.

We’re pleased to share some updates with you in this month’s TCF newsletter.

September 2023 New Library Project Updates

Many of you are interested in the process of selecting the winning design/build team to build the new library at The Commons in 2025, so we want to outline the current plan by the city. Please note that while dates are provided, they are approximate and may shift:

RFP (Request for Proposal) will be sent out by the city staff to the three finalists this week.

  • Allen Construction + Noll Tam Architects
  • BN Builders + RNT Architects
  • Bogard Construction +Jayson Architecture

10/ 23:  A “Scoring Team” (City staff, TCF, Ketchem team and City Council members) will meet individually with the three finalists to make sure they are heading in the right direction.

12/1:  End of RFQ and Interview Process with the Scoring Team.

12/20:  Council will choose the finalist with public input.

The finalist’s winning design will go to the Planning Commission, likely early January. There will be a few meetings with public input before a final design is approved by the Planning Commission.

New Signs at The Commons

We hope you have noticed the new signs on The Commons on the corner of Rose Lane. The tree thermometer will track contributions toward our $1M goal to create lovely outdoor landscaping and gathering spaces around the new library building. The QR code allows donors to easily make donations online.

The Larkspur Wine Stroll

The popular annual Larkspur Wine Stroll event took place on Saturday, September 9.  Kathy Green and Serena D’Arcy-Fisher from The Commons Foundation talked with revelers about the new library plans, and Friends of the Larkspur Library provided library cards for newcomers. Damon Hill, (second from left) the new Larkspur Library Director, was present to meet library patrons.

Join the Landscaping Campaign

We are working to ensure the community has inviting and attractive outdoor spaces surrounding the new library so that patrons can read a book, gather with friends, engage in study programs, or simply enjoy the beauty and views of Mt. Tamalpais. We need your support!
